We have been learning how to find the joy in Alzheimer’s. One of the most joyful things that has happened recently is my father is painting and drawing again. He was a professor of art and taught watercolor for 30 years. We all thought that he had lost that part of his brain, the creative center…he had not expressed himself artistically for at least five years. He has been drawing nearly daily for a while now. His wonderful caregiver was able to really coax it out of him and drawing seems to really soothe his soul. What joy!

    Hello Mary Emma,
What a GREAT IDEA to bring JOY to overwhelmed caregivers.
As the editor and publisher of the Finding the JOY series, I’ll add even more value to your drawing and answer one question by the winner of your drawing.

Great contest, Mary Emma. Consider me entered! I’m connected with Alzheimer’s both as a family member and former caregiver (to my grandmother). I suspect that I’ll one day be a caregiver again, and possibly even a victim.

I’m Alicia’s mom, and I was a caregiver to both my grandmother and my mother. Many women in my family have had Alzheimer’s and I’m afraid that my sister or I will have it one day.

Alicia - I hear you when you express your fears about possibly having this wicked disease. You have a solution and it can not be a fear for you anymore.
It would be my pleasure for me to send you a copy of my book. Don’t focus on fear of this disease - focus on what you want - which is a healthy happy life free of this inflammatory neurological disease.
Contact me at the listed email and I will personally send you and your sister a book.

    Warm regards
    Pam McDonald
